Wedding
Chihuahua, Mexico | 10.14.2006
The wedding ceremony and reception took place in October of 2006 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. It would have not been the same if we did not share this special moment with family and friends.
Here you will find links to the wedding ceremony and reception as well as links to guest and honeymoon photos and video clips.
Also discussed are traditions that involve a lazo, coins and a snake dance.....and no, this has nothing to do with a wild bachelor party! These are Mexican wedding ceremony and reception customs.
Thanks to all who were able to attend. We hope that we can share some of our special moments with you and as well as to those who were not able to attend.

RECEPTION
Chihuahua, Mexico | 10.14.2006
Immediately after the wedding ceremony, the reception took place at the Rincon Del Mirador Hall. Of course, we had plenty of tequila and ouzo to go around which probably caused all the dancing stars to display their magic on the dance floor. See Photos / See Videos

TRADITONS
LAZO | A large rosary, a ribbon or a decorated cord that is symbolically draped around the necks or shoulders of the bride and the groom, groom first. It is placed in a horizontal figure eight (infinity) while they are kneeling at the altar, to affirm their union and their committment to always be together side-by-side. The lazo is associated with a wedding prayer and takes place during the ceremony, after the bride and groom have exchanged their vows. The couple wears the lasso throughout the remainder of the service. At the end of the ceremony, the lasso is removed and is given to the Bride as a keepsake.
ARRAS | The groom gives the bride 13 coins blessed by the priest. The 13 coins represent the Christ and his 12 apostles. The Arras is given to the bride as a symbol of the unquestionable trust and confidence the groom has in her. Most often, he presents them in an ornate box, a silver or gold jewelry box, or on a siver or gold gift tray. Doing so, he also pledges to be a good provider and to support and care for his bride as she becomes his wife. By accepting thes arras, the bride pronounces her unconditional trust and confidence in her groom. These coins become a part of their family heirloom.
